With what seems to be on the horizon, it is looking more and more like the republicans do not want the presidency. Why else would they present these candidates? That is probably why Christie would not run. Maybe they are learning from history. The last time they put us into a depression, it was a long time before they could get the American people to vote republican. Even though big money seems to be in almost complete control, they still might not want to chance having a republican president when everything crumbs.
